Arena.
Arena was a DIY gallery and exhibition space in Newcastle upon Tyne, created to celebrate the breadth of creative talent across the North East and provide a platform for artists to exhibit their work outside of London.
Across a series of exhibitions, Arena showcased work by artists including Will Creswick, Megan Jepson, Joe Frank, The Dawdler and Rob Riley, while also hosting creative workshops and community events. From flower arranging and painting to open discussions on the challenges facing the region's creative industries, Arena became a place for making, learning and conversation.
More than an exhibition space, Arena was an experiment in building creative community - proving that meaningful cultural spaces can be created from the ground up, with openness, generosity and a belief in the value of local voices.
